Shermans Travel: Six Caribbean Islands

Lifestyle

Felicity Long, Shermans Travel’s guest blogger, has provided this guide to top destinations and travel deals. A family vacation to the Caribbean can help beat the winter blues. Island resorts have some of the most fun and safest children’s programs. They offer a variety of outdoor and indoor activities for kids, as well as supervised supervision. The Caribbean offers a wide range of activities for families, including snorkeling, kayaking, and even kissing a dolphin. Family Shermans travel deals are available at a variety of prices, from affordable to posh.

It is up to you and your family to decide which island is best for them. Each island has its own personality, devotees and adorers. We have compiled a list of our favorite islands.

Shermans Travel: Atlantis, Paradise Island

The dazzling water slides of Atlantis Paradise Island are my favorite. Atlantis Kids Adventure (AKA) is a great resort for older children, with its high-adrenaline Aquaventures slide and river rides. But, since Lego joined the resort to create Atlantis Kids Adventure, even small kids can enjoy the fun. Dolphin Cay is a great place for young guests to get close to dolphins and learn how to make chocolate with the AKA Culinary Program.

Shermans Travel – Grand Cayman

It is difficult to hold a huge stingray as large as a truck tire. Our younger son refused to leave the boat during our first trip to Grand Cayman’s Stingray City. He was soon holding onto a guide, who was in waist-deep water feeding one sea creature by hand, an hour later. You can find many local hotels that offer Stingray City excursions as part of their packages. However, it is popular with cruise passengers and can get very crowded.

Shermans Travel – Grand Bahama Island

Another family favourite is the Radisson Our Lucaya Golf & Beach Resort on Grand Bahama Island. This is partly due to the miles of white sandy beaches and partly because the kids love the activities and shops at Port Lucaya, which is just across the street. Junkanoo parades are a great activity for kids. – Camp Lucaya offers a variety of activities for children aged 3-11 years old. The UNEXSO Close Encounter dolphin encounter in nearby Sanctuary Bay is a popular choice. OurLucaya.com offers air-inclusive deals.

Punta Cana (Dominican Republic)

Club Med is a company that you should revisit if you haven’t thought of it since you were a young swinging single. Club Med Punta Cana in Dominican Republic is our favorite. Our kids loved swimming in the turquoise waters, playing tennis with the friendly staff, and most importantly, swinging from the trapeze at the circus school. The resort is child-friendly and welcomes infants from four months of age to the Baby Club. Teens can also be accommodated at Passworld for those aged 11-18.
